THE AUTHOR

     Gary Pavela is a Fellow of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and member of the Advisory Board of the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University.

     Gary is a frequent contributor to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Change Magazine, and the Journal of College and University Law, among many other publications. His views and commentary have been featured on PBS, CNN, MSNBC, and in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, the National Law Journal, Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report.

     Pavela is the 2005 winner of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators' "Outstanding Contribution to Literature and Research" award. In 2007 he spoke at the Virginia Tech University "Symposium for Managing At-risk Students" (sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education) and was a consultant for the Governor's Task Force on Campus Safety for the state of Wisconsin. He is the author of Questions and Answers on College Student Suicide: A Law and Policy Perspective (College Administration Publications, 2006).
